IGL's mission is to design, implement, and validate the next generation of surgical navigation systems. The main goal of such systems is to address the limitations of minimally invasive surgical procedures, by realtime and virtual enhancement of any localized surgical field with the aid of various volumetric imaging modalitites (such as MRI, CT and Ultrasound) during an ongoing surgical procedure.

IGL currently consists of 12 students, 5 faculty, 2 staff and over a dozen corporate sponsors.
