The old way:A 100 year old apprenticeship model of "See one, do one, teach one."The new way:In the information age: Use the miliary/aviation model of simulation and virtual reality to separate education from performance.The vision:Within the next 10 years, we will select, train, credential, remediate, and recredential surgeons using simulation and virtual reality. The surgeon of the future will be able to rehearse an operation on a projectable, palpable hologram derived from patient specific data and deliver the data set of that operation with robotic assistance. |
