Breast Cancer Genetics in Latina Women

The California Family Registry site is participating in a multi-center study led by Dr. Susan Neuhausen at City of Hope and Dr. Elad Ziv at UCSF. Few studies have been conducted to investigate the genetics of breast cancer in Latina women. Previous research by the team has shown that some genetic variants associated with breast cancer risk are specific to Latina women. The goal of this new study is to identify additional breast cancer susceptibility genes that are important for Latina women. The long-term goal is to develop clinical genetic tests that are tailored to Latina women and can be used for genetic risk assessment.
