Cite The Grant - NIH Required Language

Projects that are funded by or utilize SCI resources or services are required to cite the grant in publications and grant applications. 

GRANT ACKNOWLEDGMENT

Properly acknowledging of the Stanford Cancer Center Support grant support requires the inclusion of NIH-required citation language and compliance with NIH Public Access Policy Requirements. Instructions for public access compliance are included here as well.

Update NIH Required Citation Language

  1. For manuscript submissions, use this paragraph in the acknowledgement section:
    • “Research reported in this publication was supported by the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) of the National Cancer Institute under Award Number P30CA124435. The content is solely the responsibility of the authors and does not necessarily represent the official views of the National Institutes of Health.”
  2.  Required language on a patent application and any patent issued for an invention arising from CCSG funded activities:
    • "This invention was made with Government support under Award Number P30CA124435 awarded by the National Cancer Institute. The Government has certain rights in the invention."

COMPLYING WITH NIH PUBLIC ACCESS POLICY

All publications resulting from the utilization of any SCI/ CCSG resources or services must be compliant with the NIH Public Access Policy.

The NIH public access policy requires scientists to submit final peer-reviewed journal manuscripts that arise from NIH funds to PubMed Central immediately upon acceptance for publication in order to advance science and improve human health.

CITING CANCER CENTER SUPPORT GRANT (CCSG)

All publications resulting from the utilization of any SCI/ CCSG resources or services must be compliant with the NIH Public Access Policy.

CITATION LANGUAGE

When an investigator authors a paper supported fully or partially by the CCSG grant, the awardee is required to take these steps:

  1. Ensure the paper is openly accessible to anyone who would like to read it or download it via PubMed Central
  2. Add the paper to the investigator’s bibliography in My NCBI.
  3. Associate the paper in My NCBI with the CCSG grant that funded the project/research from which the paper arose.
