The Northern California Breast Cancer Family Registry at the Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, CA is one of six international registries collaborating in the Breast Cancer Family Registry established in 1995 with funding from the National Cancer Institute.

The six family registries have enrolled over 30,000 women and men from over 15,000 multigenerational families in the U.S., Canada and Australia, with 4,000 participating breast cancer families from the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Breast Cancer Family Registry was established to provide a research resource to scientists world-wide that will facilitate interdisciplinary research on breast cancer prevention, second cancers, survival, and women’s health. We are thankful to our participants for supporting research on breast cancer. Without their dedication for many years, this crucial work would not be possible.
